Blog: Next New

The next new media I would like to see is a technology, sort of like headphones, that allow users to hear any language as their own language. Basically, if someone is speaking to me in Spanish, I would hear them in English as long as I'm wearing the headphones. I want to do a lot of traveling after college, so a device like this would be a great form of new media. This is a technology that would allow me to communicate with anyone, anywhere. Another thing I would like to see is a brand new Apple watch that literally does it all. I'd like to see the Apple watch have capabilities that no one would ever imagine. How great would it be if our Apple watch could track our calorie intake without us entering it in on our phone? Or how convenient would it be if it tracked weight without having to ever step on a scale? I think the Apple watch is very advanced in the market of fitness tracking, but in the future I hope to see it hold these capabilities that don't currently exist.

       Social media has become monumental for business the last 10 or so years. Platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook are beneficial to businesses for two very important things; marketing and hiring. Social media has a clear benefit to businesses/employers but there is an even bigger benefit to society. Everyone has access to a computer one way or another, allowing everyone to create their own social profiles. It is important to make sure that social profiles are accurate and represent you and your best work. In the article "Social Networking Technology Boosts Job Recruiting" by Frank Langfitt, he discusses how LinkedIn has taken the place of the rolodex. Creativity and New Media

I'd have to say the closest thing to a "second life" that I've created is my Bitmoji. But to be honest, I LOVE my Bitmoji! My avatar really does resemble me and it's so easy to bring it to "life" when I use Snapchat or message my friends. There's pretty much a Bitmoji design to match everything I'm feeling. Snapchat recently added a "Snap map" and my Bitmoji shows my friends where I am. This is brings the Bitmoji game to a whole new level.
